Prioritize approaches

Place cameras where people and vehicles approach the property: front door, driveway, rear access, side gates, garage, and any detached building.

Use overlapping exterior views

  • One camera provides context while another captures identification detail.
  • Avoid aiming directly into sunrise, sunset, or bright fixtures when possible.
  • Keep cameras reachable for service but high enough to discourage casual tampering.

Choose a recorder with room to grow

A wired NVR system keeps recordings on site and allows later cameras to be added without replacing the original system when spare channels were planned.
